Environmental Permit

The licensing process of our activities is conducted together with the environmental agencies. Depending on the purpose of license or permit, it may be within the jurisdiction of the Brazilian Institute of Environment and Natural Resources (IBAMA), the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio), Secretary of State for the Environment (SEMA) and National Water Agency (ANA).

The environmental agency, in turn, sets deadlines for different analysis for each type of license (because of the peculiarities of the activity) as well as for the formulation of additional requirements.

Our licensing procedures are performed as laid down in Resolution CONAMA 237/1997, following the steps: prior licensing (LP), licensing, installation (LI) and license of operation (LO).

At each stage of licensing are developed their environmental studies for investigating the case, such as Environmental Impact Assessment and Environmental Impact Report – EIA / RIMA, Basic Environmental Project – PBA, Environmental Control Report and Environmental Control Plan – RCA / PCA Inventories and flora and fauna.

All stages of the licensing process have deadlines for processing of documents, studies or reports of socio-environmental impact and implementation of constraints (obligations, actions or activities required by the licensing authority) as a prerequisite for a license. The aim of the project is to adapt the steps to the measures of protection, preservation, conservation and environmental improvement. These are steps that we, the MRN, fulfill and we are keen to comply.
