Conservation Areas

We support actions aimed at the conservation of the Saracá-Taquera National Forest and the Trombetas Biological Reserve.

Trombetas Biological Reserve (Trombetas Biological Reserve), created by the Federal Decree on September 21, 1979, is also preserved with support from the MRN.We are partners of the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio) the preservation of the reserve.Each year, we allocated funds to assist the Institute in the surveillance and development of environmental education activities in the communities that inhabit the reserve.

The bauxite mining activities of the company are conducted within the Saracá-Taquera National Forest (Flona), a conservation unit for sustainable use created by a Federal Decree in 1989 and is under the management of the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio).

The NF has 429,600 acres in size and is located on the right bank of the river Trombetas, limited to the north by the Rio Trombetas Biological Reserve, other federal protected.
