Family Farming Project

Date Created: 2007
Main beneficiaries: communities of Sapucuá Lake and Batata Lake, in Médio Trombetas.

The family farm production in the communities of Sapucuá Lake and Médio Trombetas have gained momentum in recent years through the company's partnership with the Rural Workers Union of Oriximiná (STRO). We make financial transfers to the STRO that enable technical support, training, consultancy for sustainable development projects, in addition to supplies and tools.

The method of planting design is similar to that used in agroforestry systems, which are used in small areas, preferably ones already changed, for the production of fruit such as passion fruit, papaya, cupuaçu, pineapple, among others; vegetables and forest species.

The project results can be verified with the consequent increase in production and income generation. Some farmers already produce and sell the equivalent of 60% of the national minimum wage.
