Integrated Management Policy
As a bauxite producer, Mineração Rio do Norte S/A – MRN recognizes the importance of managing company business risks, their environmental aspects and impacts, the risks to employee's safety and health and to the quality of their services and, therefore, we must all ensure the enforcement of these principles and undertake to:
1) Provide provide appropriate resources as required to manage company business, quality, health, safety and environmental risks, which shall fall under management responsibility and are critical to corporate excellence.
2) Ensure that all business risks are adequately handled, so as to eliminate or minimize them, with the purpose of bringing unacceptable risks to reasonable levels.
3) Make sure that all risks existing across the organization are duly identified, evaluated and monitored, and this is a responsibility of all management levels.
4) Provide support to all employees and contractors with respect to all legal, institutional and contractual instruments, and to any other agreement entered into providing on quality, safety, health and the environment.
5) Permanently seek to prevent the appearance of new business, accident and pollution risks, as well as to continuously look for operating and environmental performance improvement, by employing new technology and standards, and through people development and rational use of resources.
6) Maintain a continuous dialogue with clients, suppliers, employees, the communities and all other company stakeholders.
7) Enforce MRN Code of Ethics and Conduct in order to avoid any situation involving a conflict of interest.
8) Based on this policy, periodically establish the objectives and targets that result from frequent evaluation of company mining processes, urban infrastructure and risk management, making such objectives and targets available to company stakeholders through corporate means of communication.
Resources Policy Human Resources
MRN shall seek to achieve the best results through the excellence in Human Resources Management by fostering the human and social development of its employees.
The Company shall exercise a participatory, transparent, consistent management model as a means of administration.
Professional development and recognition of people are permanent practices at MRN, so as to keep its staffing duly manned with professionals who are capable, motivated and skilled for their jobs.
MRN will provide an organized, safe, comfortable workplace to everyone, thus stimulating its employees and contractors to maintaining and promoting continuous improvement in the workplace.
Salaries and benefits will be competitive in relation to the labor market.
MRN shall prioritize the use of the local human potential, preferably considering its own employees and the people from Porto Trombetas.

The relations with Unions and trade associations will be maintained and enhanced on the basis of reciprocal recognition of the rights and duties of MRN employees.

The Line of Command of MRN will be the legitimate representative of the Company in conducting this Policy by promoting it amongst its employees in a transparent manner.

Communication Policy
MRN will permanently identify and make use of the opportunities that broaden the strengthening and support of its image to its stakeholders.
Only that information on relevant facts at MRN shall be passed on to its stakeholders in a guided manner.
MRN shall promote its institutional marketing with different stakeholders in a coherent and true manner.
The communication between MRN and its stakeholders shall be conducted by accredited people.
The Line of Command shall be responsible for the communication with the employees, which shall be considered in the appreciation of its performance.
The employees will be free to express their opinions, either individually or collectively, on their employment relation and work conditions to their superiors, who shall stimulate them to do so.
MRN will facilitate the integration of its employees and their families in Porto Trombetas.
Social Responsibility Policy
Mineração Rio do Norte, while aware of the social and cultural context it is inserted, aligns its Corporate Social Responsibility Policy with ethic commitments that value the human being, the society and the environment.
The social programs that MRN develops, preferably in association with external stakeholders and with the voluntary participation of its employees, include four pillars, namely: Education, Health and Safety, Environment, and Sustainable Development.
Supported by these pillars, MRN plays its role as a corporate citizen, not limiting its commitments to economic basis, but stimulating and facilitating actions that add to the well-being of the communities where it operates.
While in line with governmental actions and the legislation in effect, MRN restrains any and every type of child and slave labor.
