Over the past decade, the quest for excellence in our management processes has permanently marked our performance. Thus, we seek national and international acknowledgement of our processes.

ISO 14001

The ISO 14001 certification is an Environment Management System of worldwide recognition and it ensures that, as a company, we seek to achieve correct environmental performance by controlling the environmental aspects and impacts of our activities.

Since 2001, we have had an ISO 14001 certification in the operating and support areas, as well as in the urban infrastructure of Porto Trombetas. The village MRN built was the first location in Brazil to be certified in the ISO 14001 Standard.

Achieving the certification was the result of a maturing process, for since the start-up of our operations we have not measured efforts to enhance our environmental management. Our reforestation process on mined-out areas has always been conducted in a systematic way and recognized by the scientific community.

This certification is renewed half-yearly, after we are submitted to the maintenance audit.

OHSAS 18001

The commitment with quality, safety and health on the part of our employees ensured that MRN received the OHSAS 18001 (Occupational Health and Assessment Series) in 2003.

The OHSAS 18001 certification is an internationally acknowledged safety and occupational health management system, which certifies that MRN seeks to build, continuously, a safe and healthy work environment to its employees and service providers by controlling the hazards and risks of accidents and occupational diseases in its activities.

We are certified according to the OHSAS 18001 in our operating and support areas. This is another initiative for our improvement in health and safety management that makes us become a benchmark in the industrial sector we operate.

Our safety policy has won several prizes. In 2011, we were 3rd place in the workplace safety ranking amongst 60 Brazilian mining companies. The survey was carried out by the publication Minérios & Minerales.
