Sports in Town Project

Date Created: 2009
Main beneficiaries: students in the city of Terra Santa.

To participate in the project, attending school is mandatory. Students have school performance accompanied by coordination of physical education of the Terra Santa City Board. That is how the Sports in Town project works, developed by MRN through the Civil Society Organization of Public Interest (OSCIP) "De Peito Aberto" and partnership with the City Board of Terra Santa.

After school, students aged 7 through 17 years in Terra Santa have an appointment with the Sports in Town project. In the project, students practice handball, volleyball, basketball and soccer in school monitored by physical education professionals, with guidelines aimed at both physical and behavioral development.

The Sports in Town project is still an unprecedented step in the development of regional sports, since it is the first project developed in Pará State sponsored through the Federal Law on Stimulation to Sporting Activities. The project was recognized even by the Ministry of Sports. We were awarded the medal "Business Friend of Sport" - awards designed to honor the supporters and sports and parasports projects in the country.

The acceptance of the project in Terra Santa is so great that there is already a waiting list of students interested in joining the project.
