Mineração Rio do Norte (MRN) is the winner in the segment that groups mining, metallurgy and steel industry companies in the 16th edition of Valor 1000, a ranking which highlights the 1000 largest and best Brazilian companies in 25 sectors of the economy. The Executive Board of MRN and members of the Board of Directors attended the award ceremony, held September 12th, at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, in Sao Paulo.

The Valor 1000 trophy was handed over to the CEO Silvano Andrade, who received the award from the hands of Luiz Ernesto Migliora, Executive Director of Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV), and Cristiano Romero, Executive Editor of Valor. The award ceremony was attended by the ministers Eliseu Padilha (Civil House) and Henrique Meirelles (Finance), who outlined the economic scenario in Brazil.

Valor 1000 is an annual publication of the newspaper Valor produced with the participation of FGV and Serasa Experian. In order to prepare the ranking, they take into account information such as net income, sustainable growth, activity margin, active turnover, EBITDA margin, profitability, current liquidity and interest coverage.

It is the second time this year that a publication specialized in business recognizes MRN performance. The 2015 Best and Biggest ranking from Exame magazine, published in July, highlighted MRN as the mining company that has obtained the best result in the profitability and wealth per employee categories. Exame has also labeled MRN as one of the best Brazilian mining companies (4th place).
