The following four themes of high significance to MRN’s Environmental Management are the highlights of this edition of the Environment Report:

· Reforestation Monitoring;
· Water Monitoring;
· Revegetation of the tailings reservoirs;
· Rehabilitation of the Batata Lake.

The first topic actually highlights this edition. It summarizes the main points of the program, which commenced in 1996. Its main purpose is to scientifically evaluate the reforestation MRN has so far developed in the mined-out areas. The first results indicate how successful this undertaking has been. Disclosed are also the first results of new and successful experiments carried out in the Batata Lake rehabilitation process. And the Present Status in Hectares provides a detailed information on deforestation and reforestation over the first half of the current year together with explanations on the modifications to the adopted concepts.
