    Preservation of the Trombetas River Biological Reserve and the Saracá National Forest - Agreement with IBAMA

Objective

The agreement signed between Mineração Rio do Norte and IBAMA has the aim of preserving and maintaining the Trombetas River Biological Reserve (REBIO) and the management of renewable natural resources of the Saracá-Taquera National Forest (Flona).

Operating Structure

Every year, MRN transfers funds to IBAMA who has the responsibility of applying these financial resources on the preservation and upkeep of the Biological Reserve and the National Forest.

Results Obtained

Several positive results have been obtained with regard to environmental preservation. Among these are the contribution towards the maintenance of the current biological diversity and genetic resources of the affected areas, a contribution towards the preservation and restoration of the diversity of natural ecosystems and the protection of endangered species both at a regional and a national level.
